Extraordinary year marks extraordinary achievements

This has been an extraordinary year, full of historic challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic.

Together, though, we have triumphed by reaching the goal of the completion and opening of the Kathy and Joe Sanderson Tower at Children’s of Mississippi. With a ribbon-cutting celebration in October and the tower’s seven floors now openfor care, Children’s of Mississippi has been rising to the challenges of 2020.

The shared goal of providing our state's children with world class health care close to home has fueled progress and inspired philanthropy, resulting in a children’s hospital expansion that was completed on schedule and within budget.

The dream of providing a place of healing and hope for Mississippi’s children and their families has united philanthropists from across the state, resulting in nearly 85 percent of the campaign’s $100 million goal being raised.

Today, the state’s smallest and most critically ill infants are receiving care in a state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit. They are getting the advanced surgeries and critical care they need. Children are getting scans in an imaging center with machines that look more like sandcastles than CTs, and they’re being seen by pediatric subspecialists to keep them healthy.

Because of your gifts and your efforts, these children will get the care they need to reach their full potential.

As we look toward the holidays, a time of gratitude and joy, we are thankful for you and for all we have accomplished together in 2020 that will benefit children today and into the future.
